I got this interesting story about reversing Type-2 Diabetes from Garrick, and I’d like to share it here:
Two great men in my life, my dad and uncle were diagnosed with type-2 diabetes. Both were between their 60s and 70s when they were diagnosed with it.
My uncle has a more severe case that requires him to monitor his blood glucose levels regularly (as in several times a day) and take medication.
Dad has a milder case and now off his medication.
Do you want to know what he did? After he was diagnosed, my mom researched on ways to control blood glucose naturally. She found out about bitter gourd (or bitter melon)
and the countless success stories of people who’ve used it to control type-2 diabetes – she was convinced. Since she was already a fan of juicing for the last 7+ years,
she thought why not juice it?
So began the journey of my dad. He started drinking juice from 2 bitter gourds (and nothing else!)
every morning before eating breakfast and after a few months his blood glucose level went back to normal.
After consulting with his doctor and regular blood tests, both of them agreed that it was time to lay off the medication.
He never had to take medication again but he has to monitor his glucose levels closely, around once a month or so to make sure it does not spike back up.
Take note he’s not just taking the regular blood test but the A1C test which takes the average blood sugar levels for the past three months –
this is a more accurate test that reveals if your diet plan is really working.
Bitter melon is very, very, very bitter – trust me, I’ve tried it and it’s not for everyone so I’ve decided to modify it and add some other ingredients
I call the “diluters” to mask the strong flavor and make it more drinkable for people who never tasted green juice.
The Blood Sugar Busting Diuretic
By adding cucumber and lemon, you not only add liquid content but also dilute the bitterness of this fruit. It will still have a strong flavor
but not as strong as pure bitter gourd which make this slightly more drinkable. The great thing about this recipe is that you don’t have to
worry about fructose getting into your blood stream because lemon and cucumber contains almost zero sugar.
If you still think it is too strong try this…
Slightly Sweet and Very Bitter
Apple adds a slightly sweet flavor to the mix, the drink will still be bitter but it is a nice contrast. I love Fuji apples because they’re larger
than green apples and denser than sweet delicious which means you’ll be able to extract more juice from it. Make sure not to more than
one as it may add too much fructose into the mix.
Let me warn you that none of these recipes are what you call delicious and the only reason why you’ll drink them is to control type-2 diabetes nothing else.
Also avoid drinking more than two bitter gourds every day to avoid Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and if you are taking medication, always make sure
to have a blood to monitor blood glucose levels and make sure it does not fall to low.
